Twin City Buffalo Breeders - Preserving the Kruger Bloodline

Buffalo

OUR OBJECTIVES

In a quest to protect and uphold the legendary Kruger bloodline, Twin City Buffalo Breeders a subdivision of Twin City Development have spent a decade conscientiously running a buffalo breeding programme that reproduces superior animals from carefully chosen bloodlines which boast only the best qualities.

After years of trophy hunting, most of our country’s largest buffalo bulls have been wiped out, leaving only the smaller buffalo bulls as the reproductive leaders. This led to gene pools consistently producing smaller buffalo. The Kruger bloodline is the largest remaining gene pool, and awards breeders a better chance to reproduce bigger stronger buffalo - with the objective of breeding ‘perfect buffalo’. The ‘perfect buffalo’ can be described as a bull with a 50 inch spread and 20 inch boss in combination with a superior body and temperament.

OUR LATEST ADDITION

Throughout the years, one learns to identify the qualities of an exceptional buffalo. And when presented with the opportunity to introduce such a fine specimen into our breeding programme we grabbed the oppurtunity! It’s with great excitement that Twin City Buffalo Breeders welcomes our latest addition Rufus, a Kruger bloodline pedigree, to our breeding programme. Rufus already measures a 45 inch spread and 16.5 inch bosses at the young age of three and a half years – with another five years of horn growth remaining. In addition to this, his blood brother Salomo has a spread of 52 inches at his current age of 6. So it is safe to say that Rufus holds great promise to reach beyond the 50 inch benchmark – which means he has sure potential to reach the ‘perfect buffalo’ status.

Considering that there are only a small number of 50-inch bulls left throughout South Africa, adding Rufus to our breeding programme dramatically increases the chances of achieving the ultimate bull and cow combination, producing offspring with the same or even better characteristics. We anticipate a great future for Rufus and our breeding programme.
